Our shipping policies & pricing.

We get a lot of questions about our shipping policies and pricing. So, we thought we’d put it all in one place to make it easier to find and, most importantly, easier to understand.

The details on shipping.

By now we’re all so used to ordering everything online that it may seem like no big deal. Just click and your item magically arrives on your doorstep — sometimes even within hours. But shipping a delicate, perishable product like frozen meat is a bit more complicated than say, a shirt from your favorite store.

To ensure that our meat arrives frozen, it has to be packed in an insulated container with enough dry ice to last the trip. However, dry ice only lasts so long, especially if you live in a hotter climate or it’s the middle of summer (hello, heat wave!), so we have to make sure your order arrives at your door within 3 days. Depending on where you live, your order may need to be shipped via 2-day air service (AKA Express) to ensure safe arrival.

Shipping zones, pricing and transit times.

Your Order Total Ground Zone (1-3 Days) Express Zone (2-3 day Air) Overnight
(Available Nationwide)
Under $99 $29 $39 $59
$100 - $299 $19 $29 $99
Over $300 Free! Free! $119

To avoid the risk of your order being stuck in limbo over the weekend, we only ship out on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Depending on when you placed your order and what zone you’re in, your meat should arrive within 3-7 days of ordering. For example, if you order on a Thursday, your order will ship the following Monday. If however, you order on a Sunday, your order will go out the next day, excluding holidays.

Note: Overnight shipping is the only option available to residents of Alaska and Hawaii. Overnight orders to AK and HI are only shipped on Mondays and Tuesdays. Transit times do not include processing time.

FAQ

Why is there a $300 minimum for Free Shipping?

In order for us to cover the high cost of shipping (which we are happy to do!), we have to ensure orders are over a certain threshold. Without going into complicated calculations and formulas, this limit helps us cover the costs of labor, materials, and transit to get your order to you safely. If someone were only to order one steak or a pound of ground, the cost of shipping would be almost triple the price of the order. It's also less efficient and sustainable for the environment. We hope the $300 will encourage people to order in bulk or split orders with family, friends, or neighbors.  We understand this limit may be prohibitive to some people, and we have done our best to make shipping costs below $300 as affordable as possible for you and our small business

Why does shipping cost more in some zones?

The further away from our distribution center, the more it costs to ship our product. For example, we may have to upgrade your order from ground to express air service to ensure your meat will get to you safely within the 3-day window. As you can imagine, it costs a lot more to ship something via airplane than it does via ground. That said, our newer more centralized distribution partner should help folks across the country realize more affordable shipping rates.

What does the shipping cost include?

Our shipping costs are calculated to include the following:

    • Cost of materials including insulated packaging and dry ice
    • Labor costs associated with picking packing, and shipping your order
    • Cost of transportation and delivery or your order
